World Halal Summit 2020 with its enlightening theme “Halal for All: “Halal in All Aspects, From Production to Consumption”, was a great event, packed with so much knowledge and great speakers, offering a unique balance between academic research and industrial applications for halal related fields. Each and every year with its compact source of inspiration, the Summit is getting more professional in terms of a continuously high standard of presentations delivered by the experts of the fields and contributions of attendees from all around the world. Personally, as the Secretary General of SMIIC, I am glad to be part of this Summit both as a co-organizer and a speaker to share our works and experience and to learn the latest trends at the same time.

H.E. Ihsan ÖVÜTÜ
Secretary General of SMIIC

I am pleased that the 6th World Halal Summit gathered all Muslims especially operating in Halal concept and sector, from academicians to businessmen, from policy makers to the pioneers of the halal industry, under the heading of “Halal for All: Halal in All Aspects, from Production to Consumption ” and I am happy for my contribution to this summit. I firmly believe that this event, where many issues are discussed, from Halal medicine to halal tourism, from conformity assessment standards to halal testing, will increase awareness and cooperation on the issue not only in the Islamic community but also in the whole world. Thanks to everyone who participated and contributed physically and virtually to this summit, which reminded us once again how important the concept of Halal is in these difficult days of the earth…

Zafer Soylu

World Halal Summit 2020 with a theme “Halal For All: Halal in All Aspects,  from Production to Consumption Generations” was conducted successfully both virtually and physically during the most challenging covid pandemic 2020. A lot more new participants joined the summit with interesting topics that were equally good as conducted in previous years. With online mode it allows audience to be able to glued themselves to the screen effectively and efficiently.  Topics were broad and followed by global viewers with constructive questions and comments. It should be continued in future in the same mode and heartiest congratulations to the organizers of World Halal Summit 2020 for the tremendous effort.  Well done!

The Message of Hope and Survival, World Halal Summit 2020: When the whole world was in a state of despair and fear, at that particular time, the organizers of the World Halal Summit, using all the legitimate means, relying on Allah, gave the message of Halal for All to humanity by teaching that لاتقنطوا من رحمۃ اللہ

The 6th World Halal Summit 2020 was very fruitful! It gave insight regarding the halal information and news from well-known speakers from various countries around the world. I am delighted and honoured to be invited to attend and also speak for this conference. The conference was significant to the public as the theme of: ‘’ Halal for All, Halal in All Aspects, from Production to Consumption’’ is a good idea to share with the community through the concept of ‘by the community, for the community’.
This conference also acts as a platform for knowledge sharing among the participants and speakers, that had enhanced my knowledge in the numerous areas of halal which not only focus on food, pharmaceutical, lifestyles, marketing and other areas which are not in the area of my expertise. Even though this is the 1st time for some of us including myself to give a talk at this conference through online, due to the pandemic Covid-19, the event was still wonderful, cheerful and fantastic.
Keep up the good spirit and well done to the organizer Discover Events as well as the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) and the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC).

Dr. Emi Normalina Omar
University Technology MARA, Malaysia

I am honoured and grateful to be invited as one of the speakers. I found that World Halal Summit has provided a good platform for networking and sharing of ideas, views, thoughts and research findings which are very beneficial to the Muslim community. It will not only enrich the knowledge of the Muslim community, but it will strengthen our ummah. I look forward to share my knowledge and more networking again next year.”

2020 was an extraordinary year due to COVID 19 pandemi, many halal conferences and expos canceled. This situation increased the number of the online events and meetings, with all these difficulties WHS 2020 was an extraordinary event also. The halal summit was the most successful summit this year and among all WHS editions (6 since 2015). The hybrid summit which bring 67 speakers both physically and online will be considered as a milestone in halal scientific conferences. I’d like to thanks SMIIC and the organizer company for their professional work and taking care for all details. Wish WHS 2021 will be another success story insha Allah.

Dr. Mohammed Ali Alsheikh Wace

The World Halal Summit was convened for the sixth time as the only and most prestigious event on a global scale where the entire halal ecosystem can be known and comprehend. Despite the critical pandemic (COVID-19) conditions, it managed to reunite people from different geographies of the globe. The World Halal Summit, which took a very decisive place in terms of determining and consolidating the role of Turkey and Istanbul in the world economy, was carefully followed by its agenda and guests. From a holistic point of view, many vital issues and recent developments related to these halal issues have been conveyed by experts around the world. Indeed, this summit has opened the door to broaden and strengthen people’s perspectives in terms of various contemporary Islamic economics and finance issues, particularly halal sectors. What makes the World Halal Summit different and unique is that it has established the only academic ground that offers practical applications of the theory.
It can be said that an approach that will bring the theory together with practice in the title of Islamic finance was deliberately exhibited at the Islamic finance session held during the sixth World Halal Summit. In this regard, I find it very special that the organizing committee has provided session diversity from a 360-degree perspective; in other words, all major aspects of Islamic economics and finance were considered and discussed in this summit. Optimistically, in the coming years, it will become clear how the World Halal summit consolidates Turkey’s and Istanbul’s position as the center of halal and Islamic finance in the global economy. The World Halal Summit was convened for the sixth time as the only and most prestigious event on a global scale where the entire halal ecosystem can be known and comprehend. It was a great experience to be part of this prestigious event. As the event is getting a wider traction, the messages and resolutions of the summit are making significant impact to the growth of halal economy. Many countries are now taking the halal economy seriously by integrating the initiatives into their economic master plan.
I strongly believe that the noble effort to continue promoting halal economy will bring immense benefits to participating nations not only in term of positive economic growth but more importantly support the agenda of inclusive and sustainable growth. I look forward to next year summit and many congratulations to everyone who made this event a memorable one. Thank you.

I am impressed with the way this year’s virtual World Halal Summit has been organized. Despite the numerous challenges created by the pandemic, organizing such a huge gathering online for the very first time in the history of World Halal Forum has made me realize that if we collectively work towards achieving something, no matter how challenging it is; we can still do it. I hope with the same spirit, we will be able to practically implement the main findings of each session we had in the forum. From this year’s forum the key takeaway is that with collaboration and spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood we shall vow and strive to tap the untapped potential of Islamic finance to manage the adverse effect the pandemic has caused to our economies via digitalization and institutionalization of Islamic social finance. I take this opportunity to thank the unabating efforts of WHF Committee in organizing continuously this highly commendable event. I am also thankful for the opportunity to participate in the 5th year of this event. I pray and hope that soon the long shadow of the pandemic will be gone and in sha Allah, next year we will be able to physically meet and have next year’s forum.

The importance of a healthy and clean diet is now understood all over the world. It will be beneficial for the whole world and all humanity that the concept of halal food has become not only a religious requirement but also an extremely important health policy for a healthy life by carrying this scope further. I wish my speech to be a start for this beautiful and useful action.

The World Halal Summit is the year’s best international conference for Halal industry professionals and leaders to attend and I’m delighted to have been a guest speaker again this year. All of the presentations were beneficial to the attendees and helpful in bringing us together and up to date on areas outside of our own areas of expertise. The importance of the presentations made at the World Halal Summit have sparked many important and necessary conversations amongst those of us in attendance, extending the relevance and importance of this prestigious event. I’m very much looking forward to next year’s Summit when we can meet in person to continue conversations that effect necessary change and innovations for the entire Halal industry.

”I have always got the pleasure to participate in the World Halal Summits where we get the opportunity to see the current developments of the Halal Industry. Since its inauguration, throughout the years, The Summit has become a trailblaizer event that gathers the major parties of the Halal Industry. And this year, despite the pandemic, with all the necessary measures to protect the participants’ health, the event has been successfully organized.
To my part, I presented the OIC/SMIIC Standard on Halal Tourism: OIC/SMIIC 9: 2019 – “Halal Tourism Services – General Requirements” which is addressed to the use of tourists and tourism service providers. Halal tourism services cover a very large concept for evaluation ranging from food and beverage, accommodation, tour services and others to management and personnel responsibility. Hence, each and every aspect was taken into account to have well-designed framework and a useful guide for both users and certifiers all around the world.”

Yasin Zülfikaroğlu
Secretary of SMIIC Standardization Management Council

I was proud to be in a platform where everyone’s common concern is “halal”. The presentations and speeches of the speakers were promising in terms of the concept of halal. A lot of brainstorming was done and expectations for the future were set. Until the organization to be held in 2021, I would like to see developments especially in my field ,and consumer of these developments to be informed through social media studies. Thanks a lot to SMIIC and Discover Events, the architect of the organization.

I was honored and humbled to have been invited and given the opportunity to participate and present at the 6th World Halal Summit. It was my first time speaking at such an auspicious meeting for the subject of Halal Tourism in the Caribbean. I am grateful to the organizers who were very professional and thorough in ensuring that my presentation, which had to be virtual due to the pandemic, was done effectively and efficiently. The World Halal Summit is an important and critical tool in bringing together practitioners in the various areas of halal activities across the globe in one forum to discuss ideas, projects and to showcase to the world the benefits of halal living.

Suleiman Bulbulia, Co-Founder and Director of Barbados Halal Experience (BHE), Barbados

Whenever difficult situations arose for humanity in the world, there must have been a few people or institutions who showed new avenues and eras of hope for humanity in those circumstances. In the current epidemic, when all the routines of life have been severely affected and disturbed, ALLAH KAREEM has also taught new safe ways to live. But these methods of living have always been understood by the best minds of great nations and then they guide the world. The organizers of the World Halal Summit 2020 also taught the world the lesson that in all kinds of troubles and problems, we should need to move forward with courage and hope to help the world. I congratulate all the organisers of WHS 2020 for organizing a great and successful event, providing all the facilities to all guests, making the best usage of modern technology, and give a lasting message of Halal to the whole world.
I am grateful to all the staff of OIC/SMIIC, especially Secretary General Mr. Ihsan ÖVÜT, his entire team including Mr. Yasin ZÜLFİKAROĞLU, Çagri CANKURTARAN and their assistants (especially thanks to Dilek SÜLÜN and Stage Secretary) who worked tirelessly day and night to make it a successful event. Surely these are the great people of a great nation. I sincerely hope that this hard work will open up new avenues of economy and faith for the world as well as give the world the skills to deal with problems and difficulties. ان شاءاللّٰہ

The hybrid version of WHS, during a rampant pandemic, showed that the model to follow for the future is this one. The Summit had the biggest audience, from America’s to Asia-Pacific due to being hybrid mode. The quality of presentations within the main theme of the Sumnit were very actual and relevant on Halal and on issues that concerns us all, such as traceability of Halal products and the anti-Halal movements in Europe.

World Halal Summit 2020 was organised in an atmosphere which was clouded by the fear and uncertainty of Coud-19. Organising such a global event in such a situation is no doubt a glorious success. We observed that high level of precautionary measures were followed during this three-day event. On the one hand this summit has removed the uncertainty and hesitation in organising such events in such an atmosphere, while on the other hand it paved the way towards a prosperous future of global halal industry by unfolding multiple important halal related issues. The leadership of the OIC/SMIIC, the organisers and the coordination team through their untiring efforts and skills made this dream happen. I wish them best of luck for the future events.

I think that the World Halal Summit organizations, which aim to gain more widespread participation and a wider area of influence, make the lives of religiously people easier and healthier. At the same time, I observe an efficient and effective area for those who strive to produce services in this field. For this reason, I think such activities are important and I wish them to be continuous.

Salih Şengezer, Expert

I was honoured to be invited as a speaker on WHS 2020. My speech was on Analytical Approach on Halal Food Testing. However, this event broadened my knowledge on Halal, not only focusing on halal food but also in all aspect of Halal. Wide ranges of topics on Halal were covered by distinguished speaker from all over part of the world. I was really impressed having such a valuable human resources on our concern. There was a great interest from variety of area from food to finance, pharmacy, cosmetic and textile. I think great achievement of this summit was being Halal on all aspect from production to consumption. I think another achievement of this event was being both virtually and physically thereby made long distance to short. By broadcasting online, this event was followed by many people who have halal concern and those who wanted to attend but not able to attend due to COVID 19 pandemic.
